Terrific scenery / Settle-Carlisle Railway / 3 Peaks Walking / Cycling
A great area for a short break holiday. Depending on how energetic you are there's walking, cycling, climbing, swimming, riding on trains, fishing, playing golf, shopping, touring....in fact something for everyone.
Settle - Carlisle Railway
Experience this enchanting ride over some of the greatest scenery in the
country.
This stretch of railway was nearly closed in the late 1980's but, due to strong
protests from keen enthusiasts, the railway has survived and is now going
from strength to strength.
There are many stops to consider from Settle, but the majority of our customers
either alight at Appleby or Carlisle. Appleby is considered to be at the end
of the spectaular scenery whilst Carlisle provides those additional shopping
opportunities afforded to a larger town.
Timetables are available at the Harts Head to help you plan your day out.
Yorkshire Dales Falconery
Many of our customers who have visited this tourist attraction have commented very favourably about seeing the birds fly. Whilst still a fairly new attraction it provides a terrific setting to see some of the tremendous birds flying from hand to hand. Some customers book either a 1/2 day of a full day course at the centre. Telephone XXXX XXXXXX for more details. Residents at the Harts Head attract a x% discount on the course fees.
Great walks
Too many to list all of them. We have many books to help you plan your walks. Firm favourites include :
- The three peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Gent, Whernside
- Malham Scar & Cove
- Ingleton Water Falls
Cycling
Again too many options to list. We have contacts with local cyclists who can provide cycle plans for anything up to 100 miles per day.
